Kode! is a full-stack competition management platform built to streamline how coding contests are organized and experienced. Designed for participants, organizers, jury, and admins, it combines a clean, role-based interface with built-in tools like a live IDE, leaderboard, and plagiarism detection — all unified under a single, scalable product.

Designed for participants, organizers, jury, and admins, it combines a clean, role-based interface with built-in tools like a live IDE, leaderboard, and plagiarism detection — all unified under a single, scalable product.

I created the complete brand identity for Kode! — including the product name, logo, color system, and the mascot (Kody) — to give the platform a distinct, memorable presence.

I also designed 15+ fully branded UI screens across all user roles, developed a modular component system, and ensured 100% visual and functional consistency from landing to dashboard.

The Problem

The Problem

Most existing competition platforms are either too rigid, overly complex, or fragmented across multiple tools — with poor UX, no built-in IDE, and little scalability for organizers or participants.

"Kode! set out to become the Notion + Codeforces of coding contests — simple, clean, extensible, and community-driven."

What I Did

What I Did

1

Brand Identity Design

Named the product Kode!, created its logo and the mascot character Kody

2

UI/UX Design

Designed the landing page, dashboards, onboarding, leaderboard, and competition flow

1

Code Smarter, Not Harder

Designed a lightweight interface for real-time hints, smart suggestions, and plagiarism insights — surfaced with just the right visual weight to feel intelligent, not intrusive.

2

Your Editor, Your Arena

Crafted a focused coding environment that merges editor, test cases, and problem view — no tabs, no clutter, just uninterrupted flow.

3

One Platform, Many Languages

Designed a modular visual system using language icons and radial layout to make tech stack compatibility feel intuitive and inclusive.

4

Clarity Meets Integrity

Created a system-driven interface using graph-inspired visuals to communicate fairness and originality — without overwhelming the user with complexity.

5

Win With Every Refresh

Structured a live leaderboard experience with dynamic updates, strong visual hierarchy, and search functionality — built to excite without distracting.

3

Design System

Set up reusable Tailwind-based UI patterns in Figma

4

Product Strategy

Defined role-based access levels, competition setup logic, and overall user flow

Mascot Creation: Meet Kody!

I illustrated and integrated Kody, a friendly coding mascot used across the landing page and onboarding flows to make the platform more welcoming, especially for first-time participants. Kody helped soften the tone of a typically competitive environment, adding a layer of approachability.

Outcomes & Impact

Kode! was built not as an academic exercise, but as a vision for the future of competitive coding — one that challenges outdated, fragmented systems and reimagines the experience around clarity, integrity, and engagement.

  • 15+ fully branded UI screens designed to serve 4 distinct user roles with precision

  • 1 unified brand system built from the ground up — name, logo, mascot, color language, and tone

  • Component-based design system made to scale across future modules (teams, mentorship, careers)

  • 100% responsive experience, optimized for fast-paced, real-time decision-making

  • Delivered a product experience praised for its design maturity, user clarity, and developer-first thinking

"If launched, Kode! has the potential to become the Figma of coding contests — beautifully structured, deeply functional, and community-focused."

Reflection & Learnings

Kode! taught me to design beyond features — to build systems that drive behavior.

  • Humanized a highly technical product by introducing a mascot, tone, and accessible language

  • Balanced 4 unique user types with distinct needs, all within one coherent UI

  • Built a design language that was not only clean and modern, but developer-aligned for fast handoff

  • Learned how to merge function, fairness, and flow — especially in pressure-driven, performance-focused environments

This wasn’t just about screens. It was about creating structure, trust, and momentum — three things most coding platforms lack.
